Ecological niche modelling of species of the rose gall wasp Diplolepis (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) on the Iberian Peninsula

چکیده

Diplolepis (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) are gall wasps that induce conspicuous galls on Rosa spp. (Rosaceae). These species distributed globally and in Europe some especially common founder organisms of biological communities composed different insects. However, the ecological niches these have not been studied detail. We modelled potential distributions using locations four most abundant Iberian Peninsula (Diplolepis mayri, rosae, eglanteriae nervosa, latter two indistinguishable) algorithms identified resulting consensus for species. compared species, considering their spatial complementarity host plants. found D. mayri eglanteriae/nervosa complementary Peninsula. The former is Mediterranean region, while nervosa mainly Eurosiberian region. rosae has widest distribution Our models constitute first effort to identify suitable areas could be useful understanding evolutionary ecology throughout western Palearctic.

No Concordant Phylogeographies of the Rose Gall Wasp Diplolepis rosae (Hymenoptera, Cynipidae) and Two Associated Parasitoids across Europe

According to the Host-tracking Hypothesis, species of higher trophic levels with a close relationship to their hosts, such as parasites or parasitoids, are expected to show spatio-temporal phylogeographic patterns similar to those of their host. Alternatively, with ecological sorting, a subset of the local species pools might shift to a related host species, thereby disengaging common phylogeog...

Gall structure affects ecological associations of Dryocosmus kuriphilus (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae).

Gall wasps (Hymenoptera: Cynipidae) induce structures (galls) on their host plants that house developing wasps and provide them with protection from natural enemies. The Asian chestnut gall wasp, Dryocosmus kuriphilus Yasumatsu, is an invasive pest that is destructive to chestnut (Castanea spp.). An improved understanding of the interactions among D. kuriphilus, its host, and its natural enemie...
